I was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine at a time when becoming a professional photographer seemed as foolish a career choice as becoming a knife juggler, but I fell in love with it just the same. As a teenager, I used to roam my home city with an old film Nikon capturing moments of beauty and magic in unlikely places and making every roll of film count.
After earning my M.A. from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and brief detours in Switzerland and Serbia, I made my way back to my home country with hopes of working to transform and modernize the Ukrainian government’s public communications work. However, chance brought me back to the shores of the United States where the World Bank graciously adopted me into its G4-visa-family. I met a beautiful woman who became my wife two years later, and we settled into a home in southeast Washington, D.C.
I love getting out and documenting life on the nation’s capital and taking on professional assignments. Shoot me a note and let’s chat about your creative needs.
